NEMESIS

Hacking games where every connection leaves a trail.

Bounce through relays, break into corporate servers, and get out before the trace finds you. Nemesis is a pair of games set on the same network: one you play alone, and one you share with every other runner on the shard.

NEMESIS WS

Coming soon

A single-player hacking simulation. Your workstation, your gateway, your mistakes.

Nemesis WS remote system screen: the file copier at 20% on Meridian Research's file server, with 73.5 seconds left on the trace and suspicion at 10 of 100.
Copying a research archive from Meridian Research. The dial on the right is the trace.

You are a freelance runner with a gateway, a few starter tools and 1,000 credits. Take contracts from the mission board, scout the target, route your connection through public relays and break in. Copy what you came for, clean the access logs, and disconnect before the trace completes. If it does, your profile is finished.

  • Live traces and suspicion. Every action on a target raises suspicion. Cross 100 and the active trace runs at double speed.
  • A network to explore. Firms run web, file, records and hardened archive servers. Read a server's files to find addresses you weren't given.
  • Consequences that keep running. Investigations follow your trail after you log off. Paying for a job doesn't make the evidence go away.
  • A branching campaign. Story contracts, follow-up jobs and choices that change how it ends, alongside rotating freelance work.
  • Gear worth saving for. CPUs up to 240 GHz, memory up to 256 TB, faster breakers and firewall bypass tools. Sell stolen files to the data broker to pay for them.

NEMESIS CS

In development

A persistent-world hacking MMO. One job board, one shared world, one long mystery.

Every runner on a shard works from the same job board. Most contracts are generated from what is happening in the world right now. A few are story jobs that move a long-running mystery forward, and they look exactly like everything else. Take one by chance and you might make a fortune, or lose everything.

  • The board is the story. Any contract might matter. Nothing in its wording, timing or pay tells you which ones do.
  • Corporations rise and fall on your work. Twelve corps per shard, with a live stock ticker and news feed. Push one far enough and it collapses or gets bought.
  • Permanent stakes. Get caught and your handle is gone for good. Your account survives, and the dead are remembered in the shard's records.
  • Run with a crew. Team up with two to four runners for co-op jobs. There is no PvP at launch.
  • Fair to everyone. No single crew can claim every story beat, and late joiners can catch up.

One of these moves the story. The board won't tell you which.

Working today

  • Shared job board. Take a job and it's gone for everyone. Drop it and it comes back.
  • World jobs. Finishing one advances the shard for every runner and makes the news.
  • Living corporations. Twelve corps whose rivalries post jobs against each other. Push one far enough and a rival buys it.
  • A live market. Every corp's price and 24-hour move, with headlines when one struggles, collapses or changes hands.
  • Hosted runners. Your world lives on the server, with permadeath and a record of the fallen.
  • A macOS client that signs in with your Steam account.

Which one is for you?
